Caribbean Cruise, Part One: St. Croix - April 2015

With a baby on the way, it was time to jam another trip in before it was too late.  Another cruise to the Caribbean, this time a southern
route leaving out of San Juan, Puerto Rico.  First stop: St. Croix of the US Virgin Islands.

We spent our day lounging on the beach at a hotel called Sand Castle.  Nice joint, friendly staff, would recommend.  This was the view of
the ship from there.

That water.  I never get tired of looking at it.

See that farthest spit of land on the left?  That is Sandy Point National Wildlife Refuge, best known in popular culture as where they filmed
the final scene in "The Shawshank Redemption."  In the film it is referred to as Zihuatanejo - what do they take us for, goddamn fools?

Let's look at that water again.

Cute beach house right on the water.  I'm ready to move there right now.

During the to and fro I snapped a few photos of buildings / doors / windows around town.  These things fascinate me but I couldn't tell you
why.

A real fixer upper.

Fort Frederik, located right at the pier where the cruise ship docks.  The Caribbean is thick with old forts.

My research tells me this is a Northern Mockingbird who enjoys shitting on cannons.

Now a few snaps from the phone...

Panoramic shot from up the beach at Sand Castles.

The rare appearance of my face in any photos I post.

You just know this guy has Jimmy Buffet lyrics running through his head 24/7.

A couple more shots from town...

Cattle Egret.  Not impressed by me taking it's photo.  Not too shocked by it either.

View from the boat as we sailed away.

Another panoramic shot from the boat on our way to the next destination...
